Both in-office and at-home professional teeth whitening treatments produce great results. The difference is in the convenience as well as the time it takes to see results. 

In-office whitening is performed in our office, usually in a single visit that takes about an hour. A professional at-home whitening kit can be used at your convenience over a few weeks to gradually brighten your smile. The benefit of at-home kits is that you can wear your trays during the day or while you sleep. 

Professional whitening products are much stronger than those you can purchase over the counter and some patients experience sensitivity with over-the-counter kits that do not occur with professional treatment. 

In-office whitening may be a better option if you are a smoker or have other teeth stains that are hard to remove. If your teeth have yellowed due to drinking dark beverages such as coffee, tea, soda, or red wine, an at-home kit may work for you.
